Report function...
Hey,
So yea, for a while we've had the /report function in place, and its doing its job pretty well. But, unfurtunatly, i've recently seen a scammer and, when wanting to report them, found there was no option to report for scamming.
Its a minor thing, but it may cut down on the amount of incidents that occur.

I think there are too many definitions of a "scammer". IMO when trading a person should double check everything before they hit that accept button. Also I think people should be able to sell anything they have at whatever price they want to sell it for, even if it isn't worth that much to most people, especially mini pets, you can always find another seller for a lower price when buying.
What is your definition of a scam OP?

Yeah I wish there was a report function for scamming. But, like someone said, there are many different definitions. I define scamming as the following:
Someone who doesn't pay for a run when they were agreed to it
Someone who doesn't pay for an item
Someone who sells you the wrong item (Though you should check that first)
etc. But yeah, a report function for scamming could probably cover all of these, but ANet may not take it as seriously as the others and I doubt someone would get banned for not paying, as I've seen that happen before. But still, I'll /sign.

Scamming is to broad and hard to pin down.
What if someone sells an item for 100k but the buyer only puts in 10k then logs off after.
Now did he scam him them log quickly before he could be shouted at?
Or did he just put in the wrong ammount and then have to leave?
What about a runner who gets to their destination and a player immediately disconnects?
Did he pull the plug to avoid paying?
Or did he just get disconnected?
The only way for it to work would be to have each case looked at and only repeat or severe offenders be punished. But thats a lot of work when a lot of scams can easily be avoided by the victim taking a little more care.

It might be considered a scam if the buyer only puts 10k but rly isn't it the sellers fault for accepting the offer. Anything to do with small amount of gold(i.e running) shouldnt rly be counted as scamming. If we played it by any amount of gold there would be 1000s of scammers reported.

Guild Wars official website still has a report system in place from before the ingame reports, right? Just PrtScr and take a screenshot and file an official report.

Scamming is not technically a reportable offense. Buyer beware. You had to hit "accept" to fall for any form of dirrect trade scam.
A.net CAN'T enforce trade values of items. If somebody tries to buy something worth 60k for 30k, he's not a scammer. He's looking for a good deal. If somebody agrees to his price, its not a scam, and A.net can't be responsible for valuing an item as worth 60k or 30k.
Now, if it was something like 1g for 1k or linen for velium, etc, again, it COULD be an honest mistake by the guy (I've done stuff like that before by accident). There is no fair way to investigate the intent of every incident.

I don't know much about scammers, that I'd want to report, but I do have some issues with people who run around in Kamadan, Kainegn and Lion's Arch. They constantly spam about certain things, and especially during the Wintersday event I saw quite a few of them.
1. Buying GuildWars accounts
2. Selling gold to your account in exchange of real money (oh please -.-; )
3. "Want something done on your account? Give me the email and password and I'll do it for you there."
Okay, those are the most annoying things (apart sometimes from those who spam about their guild.... *goes back to topic*) that you can see there perhaps.
Of course, any decent player knows that the last one is something that you shouldn't even consider, but what about those who have just started the game and don't know much about it and just hope that they can get help.
(I think we've all been once in the newbie situation ourselves.)
The 2 first ones are things that I'd especially want to report sometimes, but i don't know to what option they fit into in the report window.
